What is Therapeutic Reflexology?
Reflexology is the practice of applying pressure to reflex points in the feet (hands, face or ears) that correspond to different areas of the body. This stimulation increases blood circulation to the organs and balances the body. It is a holistic therapy that improves health and well being by stimulates the body’s self-healing mechanisms and eliminates toxins.
How does Reflexology work?
Reflexology balances the energy in the body, this improves health and well being allowing the body to heal itself and eliminate toxins.
The application of pressure and stimulation of the reflexes increases blood flow to the corresponding organs and parts of the body.
This, in turn, optimizes nutrient and oxygen flow to those parts of the body. This improves the body’s ability to heal itself. It is different to an ordinary massage because a reflexology treatment stimulates specific reflexes and the nerve endings, whereas a massage only stimulate the deep tissue.
Some reflex areas of the feet may be more sensitive than others. This usually occurs where there is imbalance in the body, congestion or weakness of the organ or if the person has had an operation in that area.
